Who We Are
The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) is a transformational initiative that enables Australian research community and industry access to nationally significant, leading edge data intensive eInfrastructure, platforms, skills and collections of high-quality data.
In partnerships with organisations, we will lead facilitations that work towards a coherent research environment to enable researchers to find, access, contribute to and effectively use services to maximise research quality and impact.
The ARDC supports a wide range of research communities including agriculture. One co-investment by the ARDC is the Agricultural Research Federation (AgReFed). The AgReFed enables the sharing of Agricultural research and on-farm data to enhance decision making and generate new insights into the productivity, profitability and resilience of Australia’s agricultural industries.
Data on crop biology and genomics, soils, and weather conditions are collected with a range of techniques including remote sensing, and made Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) via a map-based portal.
